We have noticed there is a common mentality with donors for the most part: “The poor will be happy with our leftovers. They don’t know any better. They don’t need the latest or the best brands like we do. They will appreciate anything we give because something is more than nothing. It is cold outside and they just need to be warm.” Let’s TOGETHER, as a community, help change this mindset! This is the mentality we want to break: Why do we give others something we wouldn’t keep or give ourselves? Somehow collecting clothes for those less fortunate has become the perfect opportunity to get rid of clothing we don’t want, and the perfect excuse to toss out stained and worn clothing we wouldn’t dare use again.
It’s time to Be the Thread of Change…good change…quality change…making positive impacts…threading hope and dignity within the hearts of those less fortunate.
Second-hand clothing is our first and foremost choice! There’s nothing wrong with used or second-hand. Colorful Closets depends on your tenderly used clothing items. But if we give used, it should be our best. While cleaning out closets, the clothing items you decide to donate should be something you would pass on to your best friend, your own child or grandchild. Ask yourself, “Would my child walk into school feeling good about this outfit?” The disadvantaged may not have wealth, but they have dignity.

"Hug in a Bag"
Our plan to give the gift of HOPE & DIGNITY
We want children to have the opportunity to experience love and compassion while they are at school. We want to take the burden off of their shoulders and lessen the concern of what they look like at school, in order to provide a more positive learning experience and to instill hope and dignity. We are able to do so BECAUSE OF DONORS LIKE YOU!
