Learn more about Colorful Closets of Amarillo, how we got started and how you've helped us provide over 8,000 children with mini-wardrobes!
Our Mission: To Be The Thread of Change
Colorful Closets is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing clothing/mini-wardrobes for children in need, right here in our community. After recognizing the need, we set out to collect, organize and distribute clothing throughout the Amarillo and Canyon areas.
Colorful Closets truly believes that WE, as a community, are the body of Christ. Through your help, GOD IS WORKING! WE are the hands and feet of Jesus! Let us ALL come together, in love, to spread peace and kindness.
With the help of our donors, we have been able to provide clothing, warmth, hope and dignity to children at all 55 Amarillo ISD schools, 16 Canyon ISD schools, Bushland ISD, River Road and Highland Park!! We have been able to build confidence, BECAUSE OF YOU!
The beauty truly is in the details. Success in this program is being expressed through thankful messages from mothers/parents, guardians, counselors, and children. Needs that previously were not being met are being satisfied, and the residual effects of meeting these basic needs mean children in our schools are accomplishing more, feeling valued, and their families are experiencing needed support as well.
Supplying clothing and hygiene items for school-aged children provides relief and needed support for the entire family. The program is anticipated to grow as more social service programs are added within our community, and more needs are uncovered. 2019-2020 school year, 800 children received help through Colorful Closets.
Our vision is that no family with school-aged children would go without access to necessary clothing and hygiene needs. The ripple effect of meeting these needs is that the recipients who feel respected and valued will then BE THE THREAD OF CHANGE themselves.
